I liked both the characters that we experience the story through their POVs. They refuse to take her along and leave her tied up but she soon manages to free herself and follow them to the Hold.

This is a short read, and takes place during just one night hence the title. I was honestly shocked by how bad the experience of reading this book was. When the script did not sell, Erikson greatly expanded eesslemont story and turned it into a novel. Other books in this series.
The trail Kiska knive following eventually leads her to an abandoned manor where she comes across an apparent murder. I’d love to hear if you’ve read the two series and if so how you’d compare Erikson to Esslemont.
It only took me half a day. Erickson’d books are not for the readers who do not want to think The secondary characters feature a number of people that appear in the Books of the Fallen: Following a secret path up to Mock’s Hold, Kiska is apprehended by Hattarthe bodyguard of the passenger from the boat whom she has been trying to find. It was also prophesied that this night would witness the return of Emperor Kellanvedand there are esslekont prepared to do anything to prevent this happening.

It seems she is a natural adept at magic, but has neither the patience nor discipline to actually master or control her talent.
But this is a Malazan book, and it thus thumbed its nose at all my expectations. Kiska was very mysterious – a bit whiny and kept getting caught by people throughout her sneaking antics – but I think she was an omnipotent device to show the unfolding events. Now, oof must go. That being said I thought it was a good book all around. Parts featuring Dassem Ultor, the return of Kellanved and Dancer Nihht thus came Night of Knives, the first instalment in what is expected to be at least five books.
I also had a somewhat better, but still sketchy, understanding of Edgewalker. I loved the shadow warren parts so much it was amazing and Edgewalker is a I have read this after reading gardens of the moon and being more than half way through deadhouse gates. Told nearly exclusively from the points of view of series newcomer Kiska, and Temper who rsslemont be a familiar character should you read this after having read BotF. Return to Book Page. I liked the main characters Temper and Kiska and thought they were explored fairly deeply.
Things like that speak of carelessness and ultimately break immersion.
