At the end of the book, there is a very good bibliography listing other diaries from the holocaust years. It was incredibly hard to read, but I would absolutely recommend reading this book, with tissues on hand because it will make you sniff at the very least.

The book also includes footnotes for a few things that were unclear. I do not tend so much to this kind of comparison, because these are two different young girls with seemingly very diverse motivations.

Certainly not because it was poorly written or uninteresting, quite the contrary, it reached into my soul and tore me apart.
I cannot begin to imagine what it was like set against the backdrop of the war and the knowledge of the holocaust yes cuaeerno knew what was happening and feared it every el cuaderno de rutka. I read a few reviews here that were unkind to this book. An interesting read from the perspective of a year-old witnessing the horrors of the Nazi occupation in Poland.

For el cuaderno de rutka page of the diary, the book includes a companion page providing context—photographs, historical background, definitions. Although from a historical perspective I longed for more information about the occupation, the personal details Rutka includes make the diary heartbreaking.

This book is very similar to The Diary of Anne Frank. In one beautifully written passage, Rutka recounts a dream, going back in time, experiencing the splendors of a day in the mountains, before returning to the harsh reality of the present. I thought the quality of writing was good because even though she was only thirteen years old, she could still write well.
