When the Soviets withdrew, Farivar moved to America and attended the prestigious Lawrenceville School and Harvard, and ultimately became a journalist in New York. Whenever I convessions life stories like this, I’m amazed at the amount of tragedy a person’s heart can handle. It explores the history that sets the stage for the rise of the Taliban. While Farivar did participate in the tail end of the fight to remove the Soviets from Afghanistan, sarrior title may be a marketable misnomer, as the greater majority of the book is really a personal history of navigating the chaotic world that is Afghanistan from the ‘s through Fleeing across the border to Pakistan, Masood entered a madrassa for refugees, but soon returned to his home to join the anti-Soviet jihad.
Honestly, the only reason I picked it up is because the title was catchy. If you want to know the real people who live in Afghanistan; their opinions about the Taliban, the cofessions, the ISAF, America; the effects of American and Pakistani intervention; then get Confessions of a Mullah Warrior and prepare yourself for a life story that’s still being written as you read. Real people who you feel yourself rooting aa to survive in such chaotic circumstances.

This memoir is a must read for individuals who work with Afghan refugees and for anyone who expects to work or engage in military activity in that country. The earlier portions are a good counter part to ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’- many of cnofessions weapons systems appropriated from various international vendors The title is even more sensationalist than ‘Kill Mulpah Laden’ but that was much more fitting than this.
The title is misleading and I kept reading waiting for something interesting a “confession” if you will to happen. This book alone sheds light to a situation most Americans, even with the 24 hour news coverage, know so little about. Amazon Advertising Find, attract, and engage customers.
