To reveal the intricate machinations threatening them, two men must learn to trust each other. The characters feel alive, and the storyline continues to surprise in a aisking good way. The reader enters this complex world with basically no background with which to understand it. In the end, can Wil actually choose himself over his Guardian?
Including his own soul. This is such a full bodied relationship and story! It aissling elements of Victorian Crime, Medieval Fantasy and a few Western influences the saloon western and not the international ‘western’ It made it hard to orientate myself into the story.
If that had been chopped in half, I still probably would have found it too long for a single Chapter.

A Ghost, Untouchable, Fen Jacin-rei’s kind were once the Voices of the Ancestors, channels and Catalysts, their minds open repositories for the will of the spirits of long-dead magicians. Dallin, the pragmatic and calm man. Carole lives with her husband and family in Pennsylvania, USA, where she spends her time trying to find time to write. My only complaint is once again the book gets bogged down with too many details and drags a bit.
An excellent read set in a fascinating world where characterization is the focal point. I end up spending most of my reading time trying to figure out how to pronounce names like J’lkhrutphne.
He is convinced he has been abandoned by the Gods. Ghost Yet another unused prologue. There simply isn’t enough trust, enough peace, enough time for sex to come naturally for these two characters at this point.
He does not know exactly who and what he is running from and ailing powerful or how many they are. The romance was there in this book but at no point did it overshadow the rest of the story. The only issue I had was that some parts of the book moved too slow for my liking. Oh my GOD is it fluffy.
Bravo Carole Cummings, for creating a book that reminds me why I was such an avid reader in my teens. The plot is revealed just as slowly and carefully as the ins and outs of the world in which the story is set.

When unassuming college student Cukmings Sutton wakes up in the morgue, it takes him a few minutes to remember he has magic superpowers, damn it!

Wil is fragile, continually toeing the line between sanity and insanity, constantly changing his mind of which he would prefer — knowledge or ignorance. It was beautiful to read how they changed from one page to the next, while still remaining Wil and Dallin.
