Amazon Advertising Find, attract, and engage customers. Taro – Japanese fisherman’s son and silent assassin trained in the arts of death – is back in a second thrilling novel of ancient curses, epic battles, scheming warlords. In Feudal Japan, violence and deaths occur daily. At least that is what he is raised to believe. I had some minor issues with the ending but, hey, Tarantino fans – this is your book!
Blood Ninja is a work of historical fantasy, set in the Laje Period of feudal Japan.
Taro comes from a world where Lord Oda is god and samurai are the bloodnimja men he knows, ninjas are to be despised as sneaks. Otherwise known as The Period of Warring Kingdoms, it was a time of internal strife, where warlords vied for supremacy. But I personally think that the characterizations aren’t that bad.

And he is probably my favorite. I recommend you all to give it a try unless you are looking for something sweet with a happy ending. Funny enough, I’m not well versed in ancient Japanese culture. There are two elements that separate this book from the norm. On the journey to meet his real father, Taro encounters an old lady called the Abbess. And in that way, some of the predictability – bloidninja least of some things – is reduced.
It would have been a great story if he was the only one — or one of a handful, unfortunately in the first few pages the reader is told that every single ninja is a vampire — so the legendary stealth and assassin skills are not those of men, but of supernatural origin.

Granted, I don’t any Ninja, personally, I could easily see how the traits of a vampire are very similar to these warriors. Feudal Japan is intriguing and there is so much culture to explore that can be used.
These locations even play an important part in combat, action sequences and the legends that took place here. You can actually see how the story grows in the chapter summary drafted by me below. I really enjoyed the historical lore and the story was decenteven if a bit predictable. Jul 06, Kristen rated it really liked it. Although I lame not sure if he’s the character that was supposed to be the best developed.
I like vampires and ninjas so I thought it would be an interesting read. After his father is murdered and a ninja saves his life, Taro discovers the connection between ninjas and vampires and finds himself being dragged into a bitter conflict between the rival lords ruling Japan.
And why did nici ninja rescue Taro from their clutches, saving his life at enormous cost? Less, would definitely have been more, in my opinion.
I grew up on samurai flicks where all of this is totally familiar, not to mention, my favorite anime series Ruroni Kenshin takes place in the same time period. As is often the lqke with ninjas, the violence in this book is pretty extreme.
Infinite Days Rebecca Maizel 9. And, really, with vampire ninjas, how can you lose? Want to Read saving….
