I could probably epoxy an angled pin header right to the top of the clock generator to add third jumper. Ideally, I would like to run a more thorough comparison and update this thread, viewtopic. If you don’t want to remove the sticker, you can usually tell if it is UV EPROM by noticing the thickness of the chip and the sandwich look to it. Users browsing this forum: Faster than SiS as well. The one above to the left of the clock generator controls the PCI divider.
I’m also adding the manual in case someone stumbles over this thread in the future and needs it. I had K of cache installed, which can sometimes influence what fastest cache timings are stable. Then I put sticks fromm and in the machine assuming that they are FPM memory but I’m getting the same results as before. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
I’m looking forward to your test results of EDO vs. I’d rather not tear the sticker off to find out I’m a qli for detailsbut I suppose I could drop the chip into to one of my device programmers and see if they can identify the chip using the device ID bits. Has anyone else experienced this? When I get some a,i tonight I’ll look closer and see if I can figure out which jumpers are for the multipliers.
I checked the ram sticks and 2 of them out of 3 were EDO. There is no material that is knowingly illegal here. This board isn’t as popular as the LS there’s barely any information available. I did not bother to check mine with EDO. And stick with K cache. Return to General Old Hardware. I also have reason to suspect this is the clock generator for the SMT Terminator. The ,1487 jumpers to the right of the clock generator controls the FSB. Sure enough the memory benchmarks dropped by a pretty noticeable amount, so it does seem like the ALi chipset will indeed leverage EDO RAM when available and unlike SIS, provides a tangible m14887 in performance.
The LSe manual I have doesn’t explain what the individual CPU selection jumpers are, only where to put qli for a particular processor. This disclaimer is brought to you thanks to the BSA. Also, have you read this post? For reference, I’ve attached a manual and board layout if anyone wants to take a look.

Otherwise, yep I could sneak a trimpot in there somewhere too. This really limits its usefullness with an Am5x or Cyrix 5x I have never witnessed first hand or second hand any improved benchmark results when using EDO on a PCI motherboard.
Besides needing to add a 3rd clock speed jumper Alk to the clock alo, I think the most difficult part of achieving 66MHz might be figuring out which jumpers are the PCI divider assuming it has one and CPU multiplier. Parity should theoretically decrease performance since it’s more overhead for the chipset to calculate the parity bits, so for the purpose of testing I was hoping to ensure parity isn’t being used on either board.
When looking at the manual, do you see what I mean about lack of any detail regarding multipliers? Dual Xeon X 4. I’d use a trimmer rather than a fixed resistor if you’re testing for an IBM 5x Thanks for the detailed ai Based on the 33MHz results there m14877 to be some real potential here! I can’t find any datasheets for it. Perhaps RAM write to 1 ws.

Does anyone familiar with either of these boards have any comments or suggestions on any particular settings I may need to adjust on either board that may account for such a dramatic difference?
Others will run well at aki.
I would not have thought the difference so large. I didn’t have time to save the results, but I hope to get back to it tomorrow since I’ll have the house to myself for most of the day. Last edited by FesterBlatz on I’d like to be sure it’s an even comparison One of my cyrix 5x chips needed 3. One thing to note: Board index All times are UTC. This site hosts no abandonware. That is the case with SiS boards anyway.
I’d be happy run some time demos. Since I’d likely never need to use the 4V option, I m11487 always replace the relevant divider resistor to change the 4V selection m187 3. I suspect the memory performance differences may be related to the fact that you are using EDO memory, which not always means better performance in The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know.
