I could probably epoxy an angled pin header right to the top of the clock generator to add third jumper. Ideally, I would like to run a more thorough comparison and update this thread, viewtopic. I checked the ram sticks and 2 of them out of 3 were EDO. There is no material that is knowingly illegal here. This board isn’t as popular as the LS there’s barely any information available. I did not bother to check mine with EDO. And stick with K cache. Return to General Old Hardware. I also have reason to suspect this is the clock generator for the SMT Terminator. The ,1487 jumpers to the right of the clock generator controls the FSB. Sure enough the memory benchmarks dropped by a pretty noticeable amount, so it does seem like the ALi chipset will indeed leverage EDO RAM when available and unlike SIS, provides a tangible m14887 in performance.

The LSe manual I have doesn’t explain what the individual CPU selection jumpers are, only where to put qli for a particular processor. This disclaimer is brought to you thanks to the BSA. Otherwise, yep I could sneak a trimpot in there somewhere too. This really limits its usefullness with an Am5x or Cyrix 5x I have never witnessed first hand or second hand any improved benchmark results when using EDO on a PCI motherboard.

Besides needing to add a 3rd clock speed jumper Alk to the clock alo, I think the most difficult part of achieving 66MHz might be figuring out which jumpers are the PCI divider assuming it has one and CPU multiplier. Parity should theoretically decrease performance since it’s more overhead for the chipset to calculate the parity bits, so for the purpose of testing I was hoping to ensure parity isn’t being used on either board.

When looking at the manual, do you see what I mean about lack of any detail regarding multipliers? Dual Xeon X 4.
