This story is very much the novel of manners, as we go through the various bits and bobs of being in Town during the Season. He simply smiled and corrected her grammar.
I had problems with the cockney for lack of a better term some characters spoke, especially since certain terms or phrases no longer in general usage kept showing up in nearly every conversation.
This book was first recommended to me on Amazon a couple years ago, and I’ve been excited to read it ever since. The story itself reminded me vaguely of patriia Sherlock Holmes movies, because there was all these quick talking British people explaining everything they found out the entire way through.
YA, Fiction, Fantasy, Sci-fi”. This was one quirky novel, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It moved a bit slowly for my liking and the end was played out in an unoriginal and chaotic manner with all the characters gathered together as the mystery is revealed, wrde with everyone’s roles in it.
The second story is much more Kim’s. Dalton Booksellers, and finally at the Dayton Hudson Corporation headquarters.

The result is that this book is mainly a magical mystery with no romance until almost the end.
As Kim is now a member of “polite” society, she has shed her thieving dialect, but pulls it out as a weapon of shock, which gave rise to one of my favorite scenes in the book. A Matter of Magic brings back many fond memories of my younger years spent rereading the Enchanted Forest chronicles. Not as much magic in it as i expected, so if that is why you are interested in it, well try looking for a different book.
She has no children, but as of this writing, she does have four nieces and four nephews ranging in age from seven months to twelve years old and in geographical location from Maine to Alabama.
The Outlaws of Sherwood. In addition to being not as funny as it wants to be and hard to follow at times, the bigger fault in my opinion is that all this nonsense with a supporting magid of dozens detracts from werde heart of the story — Mairelon and Kim. As the book progressed it got clearer but I was still confused until after the climax, where what everyone has been searching for is found.
Once again, Mairelon and Kim are mystery-solving, with heavy doses of magical training and dancing thrown in for good measure. I feel really disappointed about that, because the characters and their relationships had huge amounts of potential, but that was never fulfilled. Here, it’s combined with a wonderful You know what they always say: This biography of a living person needs additional citations for pateicia.
A Matter of Magic by Patricia C Wrede
From a High Tower. There were a lot of secondary characters and everyone was after the same thing, some set of magic trinkets, that I kept easily getting confused and could not keep straight what character was what and who was good in bad. Kim is presented into the upper tier of society, presenting her availability for marriage, while training in magic with her mentor.
The Hills Have Spies. Shame on me for assuming. Being an extraordinarily unobservant person, I followed along without ever stopping to seriously question the who or where until they were actually presented to me near the end.
