Minor things became big issues because again Emma allowed it. Looking forward to reading Bewitching. Lisette steals everything from Emma at first, but after her father dies Emma’s mother gets back at her for all the years she’s tortured Emma. I know the whole story ends with Kyle’s narration in Beastly, but I wanted more of Lindy’s feelings.

Turned out he no longer thought that looks were everything by the end of his story as ‘the beast’ lol. Wow this was a total let down. I studied opera in college I’m a coloratura — the really loud, high-pitched sopranos. Overall, Alex Flinn’s Bewitching was a wonderful story where good always conquers evil with fairy-tale aspects mixed into the story.
O In this way, Flinn beautifully captures how different the same event can appear to two different people, and how different people even those in love place importance on different things.
Beastly can teach us a lot about people in these times of fallen taboos and lack of values, but also about the kindness and the beasts within our own souls. View all 3 comments.
It was interesting to know that Kendra was helping the two lovers all along. Maybe I cared a little about Emma but honestly, I aldx no sympathy for their sob story. This book was amazing.
Instead of the Beauty we get from usual fairy tale lore, our beauty is a shy, sweet, book smart, average looking girl beasyly Lindy. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly. Kendra is kind, well rendered, sometimes disoriented and flawed character. It enrages me because if it were me I would not have kibro if she told about me busting up the pumpkin. It wasn’t until Lisette showed her true colors that Emma realized that she would have to fight, every day, for what was hers.
Everything that happened to Lindy finally made sense.
Emma tries not to take advantage of Kendra’s powers as her own personal fairy godmother which is a really nice touch. The fact that I already knew the story behind it had nothing to do with how boring this book was. The book starts off well enough. A good take on the fairy tale. No place to moral lesson, so going on with my review, I may say that this book as you notice reading the title is a fairy tale on ours moderns days.
Breathing Underwater deals with the serious and all-too-common problem of dating violence. Luckily for me, this author has written other books and I have not read them yet! As he lays dying, he asks Linda for a kiss. We get to see her life and how she became a witch… kinda. When he plays an evil trick on a fat, ugly girl named Kendra, he is cursed to become what he really is – a beast.
This has almost nothing to do with the book, but every time I would see the word beastly I would think about how for awhile people would say that to substitute cool or awesome. Happy ending can be such a drag It just felt so incomplete when I finished.
